More Politics of Fear.... this time, over Kyoto

Canadian Federal Environment Minister John Baird, instead of taking action to deal with climate change, is now taking the approach that combating climate change through the world-standard Kyoto Protocol, would be too costly. Baird approached the Senate environment committee insisting Kyoto would *manufacture a recession.*
In the committee, Liberal Colin Kenny challenged Mr. Baird to provide a step-by-step explanation of how he arrived at his dire figures. Mr. Baird referred Mr. Kenny to a document that he provided to the committee, but committee chairman Liberal Tommy Banks said he could not find any arithmetic in the document that justified the figures.
