A message from the misguided geriatric...
Apologies for this belated posting, things have been a little busy around here lately, no excuse I know, but I shall aspire to be better...Received an email from the Misguided Geriatric suggesting that this quote from a German field Marshall made during the Nuremberg Trials, reminded him of someone else, somewhere else, a whole lot more recently....
Quote:
"Well of course we don't want war, why should some poor person on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can hope for is to come back to his farm in one piece... ... That is understood, but after all it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a parliament or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be bought to the bidding of the leaders, that is easy. All you have to do is tell them that they are being attacked and denounce passivism for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."

The misguided geriatric sounds very well read and wise. Perhaps his wisdom has grown through listening to his close family members spruik their right-wing fascist, 'anti-battler', self-loathing diatribe.
An awfully large perhaps there Mr Anon...
Perhaps Mr Anon was speaking in jest - perhaps, perhaps, perhaps! Thanks you Doris Day.
